iPad or Mac?

right i'm living off 6 year old windows computer. runs okay i'm looking replace apple something. purchased macbook thinking ticket i'm not sure! i'm stuck between should stick ipad or "need" mac. i'm coming opinions!

have basic computing needs: web browsing, online shopping, casual games (think facebook-esque games can achieved through app store), banking/bill pay, youtube, movies, music (spotify/pandora). don't work on personal computers have separate work provided windows laptop work tasks.

worth splurge on mac, , if model? not have budget. or better suited saving few bucks , doing on ipad possibly keyboard? idea of having ipad somewhere have doubts hence question.

thoughts/opinions?
 

macbook air 11" in opinion.
ipad work hate web browsing on tablets don't recommend if spend lot of time browsing web.
