Recommended Mac Mini Monitor?

hi guys,

i'm after bit of advice, work looking upgrade old pc's 6-7 years old new macs. have 2 choices really. can buy new imacs , have intergrated or thought idea keep our existing monitors , buy couple of mac mini's , connect via vga thunderbolt connector.

problem have our monitors old terrible when plugged in. because old lcd screens pretty bad resoulution. i've tried them on mbp , i'm not happy. suggest? go mac mini , buy better monitors? if recommend decent price , decent quality? or go imac's?

should add won't doing major processing tasks. email, web browsing , checking stock online etc nothing major.
