Speeches and presentations - planning for an applause

i don't why people this. believe audience applaud during moments of speech or presentation.

, when doesn't happen, there's long pause , speaker thinking in head "ah ****".
 

i have given countless speeches , presentations , have never planned applaus. find annoying because can cause concentration break.
