Mid-2012 mbp RAM issue

i have mid-2012 mbp, 4gb ram , 500gb hdd. i've upgraded yosemite when first came out , since machine has been struggling. didn't around post issue earlier, don't remember noticing on mavericks. i'm on 10.10.2

after browsing while on safari, few different sites, around 4-5 tabs open, safari uses available ram in system. start noticing sluggishness after couple of hours, ram usage accumulates.
ram usage causes whole system become slow, spinning color wheel whenever open new tab, change song on itunes, etc. when i'm typing keyboard becomes unresponsive few seconds, color wheel comes , keyboard won't accept inputs, enter characters typed 10 seconds late.

ram indicator stays green whole time, , know says if it's green it's fine, yosemite handle ram management, seriously, not right. not normal machine can come halt using safari. restarting safari empties ram using , system speeds again, until restart can still feel small lag. after restart happens again , again whatever on safari. made screenshot of activity monitor.

use laptop safari, itunes, word processing , in rare cases might edit 1 or 2 photos in iphotos. think it's supposed able handle amount of ram , hdd.

seems me safari not doing should cached stuff.

i have impression yosumcrappy's memory management works better on computers can swap ssd, or not @ (lots of ram).

i'd mbp lot better 8gb , ssd... that's run in 13-inch , thing can run 2 vms totalling 5gb of ram plus ton of apps (including ms outlook) @ same time champ.

cheers
