Garageband 10.0.3 modulation

hi all

i've started using garageband 10.0.3 on mac mini yosemites .
have added number of parts song using smart strings instrument in orchestral. played in using m-audio keystation 61es. smart strings sound has 3 distinct sounds can vary whilst playing , recording. these slow (quietish) bowing sound, staccato quick bow sound , pizzicato plucking sound. wish use staccato , pizzicato sounds in current piece. can obtain these using modulation wheel on keyboard. seems variably default slow bowing sound despite being recorded in pizzicato or sticcato. variable. current sound there 1 part of song , reverts later in pice despite being recorded in desired modulation. have tried adjusting modulation in garageband after recording within edit function yet having no real success. it's becoming frustrating , have phoned apple who's helpdesk unable resolve issue. considering playing entire part through old studio, recording , playing , editing garageband witha consistent sound. seem waht longwinded simething feel should straightforward!
