Help with Incorporating a EVGA GTX 970 in a 4,1 MP

hello everyone,

acquired evga gtx 970 put 2009 mac pro. i've been using windows 7 bootcamp partition rather mac partition, haven't been bothered getting card work on mac side.

got card work fine on windows side downloading drivers. on mac side, hasn't been easy. downloaded drivers beforehand thought right ones, when tried boot osx got black screen. @ point, believe not simple thought getting card along mac, know it's possible. asking if list step step guide on how card working right way on mountain lion 1.8.5. (if recall, it's not easy downloading drivers , restarting. believe have enter commands terminal, or change things. maybe not? i'm not sure.)

it won't work unless upgrade 10.10 yosemite. nvidia web drivers os x build dependent. others offer more detailed technical explanation, short version.
