Apps keep disappearing...

ok, have mission control on can see open apps in 1 corner , other corner relevant windows specific app using.

however, odd , annoying keeps happening...

when switching between apps, other apps highlighted logos when click on 1 individually, nothing appear in window.

example:

in chrome now, go top right hand corner view apps, can see logos of other apps such excel, outlook & skype , sort of outline of these apps should if click on of them, nothing appears on screen.

problem irritating , can't figure out way around it, or way of solving it.

please?

not sure if helps, running latest version of osx , have mac book pro retina, top spec of late 2014 , i've not dual booted or , software date.
