Elgato EyeTV 250-Plus replacement? now have a DTA box

i have elgato eyetv 250-plus attached mac mini have been using dvr great results several years.

cable company, twc (time warner cable) moving digital signal , providing customers in area a

motorola dta
model number - hd-dta100u/4301/000
part number - u62x006.00

motorola dta provides output either coax or hdmi. cable company suggesting usage of hdmi highest quality.

meat of question, i'm looking replacement elgato eyetv 250-plus. short of things.

have looked on elgato web site few times looking replacement. , see eyetv hd. looks might of replacement, not optimal one. wish eyetv hd had hdmi input, doesn't. according elgato.com support site, has composite, component , s-video.

i'm wondering how others doing eyetv hd? did end doing ok? or did find better alternative eyetv hd more options?

your eye tv has coax/rf input? may continue work. suppose tw encrypting signal. connect eyetv new box. rub won't able switch channels without more work (ir blaster example)

dunno there may copy protection or drm on hdmi port (called hdcp), if have hd service or more basic channels. may want check out before investing in hdmi dvr type device. may have connect tv directly nothing in middle or use work arounds.

not many inexpensive dvrs provide necessary hdmi handshaking tv or compliant monitor (the industry doesn't want record , redistribute hd content). there several devices convert hdmi, additional hdcp handshaking put roadblock. , tw sets copy flag such compliant dvr not record anyway. there work arounds.

don't know if applies basic service. when comcast went encrypted digital in our area, box gave had coax out.

need figure out how switch cable box channels dvr software, unless record 1 channel @ time.
