Bizare replicating Contacts card from iCloud

i surprised discover relatively new name had 39 duplicates on iphone. laboriously opened , deleted down one, week later noticed there dozens of same card again. started manual deletion again , after deleting several dozen thought i'd check how many had go. there more when started deleting.

lead me decide issue icloud, not phone. de-linked iphone (and had delete icloud contacts, removed cards in question) went on icloud, deleted all, few dozen, made new one. screen auto-refreshed , there 2 again.

deleted both. appeared again. there six, then... i've determined no amount of deleting them helps, first 2 new ones appear, more , more, although prompts more/when mysterious why come after being deleted.

no contacts lists linked @ point, not coming source. there 1 unusual thing card, first name hon-ming, card - in first name. clues?
 

that's weird. shouldn't matter dash.
went through today, , deleted hundreds of old contacts didn't need more, , worked flawlessly. works - until doesn't.
