Securing External Drive Folder?


i have setup synology nas. have 2 2tb external hdd intend connect synology via usb , use strictly backup. right now, drives ntfs formatted because directly connected pc. of folders going reside on external drives encrypted. have couple of ideas not sure if going work. have macbook pro.

questions/ideas should reformat drives mac osx journaled (or encrypted)? synology able write , read mac formatted drive? should create aes encrypted .dmg disc image store folders want protected in?

under data backup section on synology dsm site says:
an encrypted folder can backed either mounted or unmounted. however, restored unmounted , not mount automatically on startup. required enter or import encryption key of encrypted shared folder mount it.
backing encrypted folder encrypted folder not supported.


external hdd have combination of pc , mac folders/files in event need access them pc have option if possible.

in advance help.
