10.10.3 and no SD cards won't mount or are Read-Only

all of sd cards giving erroneous read-only message. started wit 10.10.3 update of macbook pro. before worked fine. have cards different brands , sizes. problem macos x update having bug. older computers not have 10.10.3 update not have problem mounting, reading or writing these cards. of cards have tabs in unlocked position , worked before.

solutions?

it's dust in slot near switch sensor. found video suggests putting r/w switch midway between read-only , r/w: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nehn7mh81vs
think gently clean area toothpick or other non-metallic tool too.
