Cannot move Mail messages...

i have older email account (no longer in use) want delete apple mail. but, before so, want move of messages (from sent folder) user defined folder within mail viewable later on. (a simple task i've done many times in past...)

when move messages, don't move (or copy) new folder. act move or copy @ first, don't move. activity window open, notice system attempting access mail server.

mail imap, don't have access server anymore, nor can obtain access. appears won't finalize move or copy without accessing imap server. thoughts on how fix without accessing server - presuming server access issue here?

try creating new mailboxes (folders) "on mac" , copy mail those. i'm thinking imap account wants confirm actions server, can't.
