Retina iMac, is it still a safe buy or wait?

i haven't read imac following stream of reviews last year of mentioned how amazing remember these key shortcomings:

  • glitches when lot going on monitor making strange looking lines across screen
  • worse gaming performance last model
  • pricey delivers. wait revision in 2015

well, we're in 2015 , i'd know if reviews blown bit or if in real world after 3 months machine agree initial reviews?

usage pretty standard
daily usage of :
lightroom (raw images)
handbrake
final cut pro (4k , 1080p editing)
office documents (5-10 megabyte xls files)
play sim city, civilization, sims 4 (coming out next week) , warcraft once week

have 27" core i7 late 2012 , i'd upgrade need see performance gains in of these aspects on top of experiencing beautiful retina screen.

assuming faster imac + better video card, how has experience been? thanks!

adam,

experience has been wonderful. absolutely love screen (it's incredible), love speed, , love how quiet (i have ssd). have not experienced of problems you've listed above, not once. use imac 5k listed above, except games. i'm photographer , videographer.

waiting, best guess if waited 5-10 months, might see minor spec update , slight reduction in price ($200 +/-). if want see major updates , bigger price drops, think you'll have wait until sometime in 2016. of course, purely speculation on part, consider reasonable speculation.

love 5k , happy bought when did.

hope helps,
bryan
