Very close to a decision, but... rMBP or MBA?

i close (within next week , half, if not days) purchasing either 13" retina macbook pro or 13" macbook air. main concerns are:

- retina display. honestly, fine macbook air performance meet needs, need know if $160 price difference (student discount woot woot) better display worth it. how noticeable it? regret if skip retina , mba?

- staingate! how common this?? don't want shell out more on better computer screwed production flaw. mixed reports on apple's responses make me nervous. getting mba may save me trouble.

lean closely towards rmbp future-proofing, power in case need later on down line (right don't), display, , fact it's not more expensive. swayed either way.
