House GOP Tries To Reverse D.C.'s Reproductive Health Non-Discrimination Law

om whole other level, it's disgusting residents of dc rules people didn't vote for.

reproductive health non-discrimination act, passed law d.c. city council in december, says employers cannot discriminate based on decision “by employee, employee’s dependent, or employee’s spouse related use or intended use of particular drug, device, or medical service, including use or intended use of contraception or fertility control or planned or intended initiation or termination of pregnancy.”

practically, means employers in district can't fire or pay them less because had abortion, use birth control pills or had teenage daughter become pregnant outside of wedlock. catholic , christian schools across country have been known fire teachers becoming pregnant out of wedlock.

because congress has jurisdiction on d.c., can pass resolutions of disapproval reverse existing laws in district. congress uses tactic, republicans opposed d.c. legislation that revived it. rep. jason chaffetz (r-utah) said knows bill "emotionally charged," republicans believe d.c. law unconstitutional , violates religious freedom of employers.

"the bill forces employers hire , retain individuals beliefs regarding reproductive health decisions different employer advocates," said.

rep. steve russell (r-okla.) added believes abortion murder , said "we should willing die for" religious liberty.

democrats opposed resolution.

"this resolution give employer coercive power intrude on woman’s private decisions birth control, in vitro fertilization , abortion," rep. carolyn maloney (d-n.y.) said. "those activities none of employer’s business. activities happen off job , decisions have no bearing whatsoever on woman’s ability job."

stupid reverse it. @ same time dumb health care still tied employment. seems me if there single payer healthcare system there no need laws dc's.
