Mac book for iPhone programming

hi, hope in correct place.

i'm interested in using swift (or maybe objective c) iphone app development. have previous programming knowledge, , have degree in software engineering. don't own mac or os x operating system other iphone.

i'm looking @ buying used mac. when getting mac, need current os x on it? also, need mac book pro? developer site @ apple says needs 10.9.4. need on date os?

thank

mac os x not windows....where can alright 7 years old software. in apple "world" need current (and 1 os before that) if want develop ios latest versions. instance, 10.8 can ios 7 (and previous versions). , 2.5 years old os 2012!!!

on more positive side, can put yosemite (or mavericks if choose so) on lot of older (2009 or around year) macbooks.

doesn't have macbook "pro". because lot of older pro's have regular hhd , air having ssd, later faster in quite few tasks. still, recommend pro version, because can add ram , ssd , have quite machine ios development.
