Humorous call with Apple Support over vintage product.

so decided 'upgrade' copy of quicktime 7 on old tiger machine quicktime pro. i've bought every version's pro key since first started selling them quicktime pro 3 in 1998. of course, purchased qt7 pro key when qt7 first came out in 2005, , way old numbers go apple store, log in, go account, , go "software downloads". well, section disappeared @ recent website update, , "your orders" section goes 18 months.

contacted apple support.

first person talked had no idea talking about. "what serial or imei of device?" uh, no, it's not device, it's mac software. "okay, serial number of mac?" well, that's irrelevant, it's apple branded software independent of individual mac, and, in fact, can used on windows. "okay, serial number of software?" that's why i'm calling!!!

person escalated me got right away, though. knew talking (a quicktime pro key,) , tried help. in end, though, long enough ago couldn't up. called apple store (he "mac help",) see if it, couldn't either.

did more digging, , found there separate quicktime support line. independent of rest of apple's support system, different phone number, can't transfer it. warned me "don't mention ipod or iphone, won't know exist. oh, , may have use rotary phone call them." old timer support guy humor win! :d
 

so did end getting serial guys? man, amazing how still have support line going it!

last time called apple had call me on line wasn't being recorded. anther time had read model numbers off box make easier them find in list.

favorite 1 though when called me 3 years later asking experience ipod 3rd generation. , like, oh, have ipod video now! , like, oh, tell me experience then. :d
