Still dropping wifi connection on 10.10.2. Any fixes?

on late 2008 mbp (yes know it's old it's still lot of things, plus have haswell desktop), i'm still having wifi dropping issues on latest version. drop follows pattern. open lid, have internet. 30 seconds later, connection drops. turn wifi off, wait 10 seconds, turn on. above happens 1 more time , after that, it's go. not end of world still annoying. never had issues before upgrading yosemite.

have issue or know fixes prevent occurring?

some have downgraded mavericks, others have bought new router, still others have switched 5ghz-only (may need new router if current 1 really, old), while others have bought os x compatible usb wifi dongle.

there have been sorts of other things attempted people fixed ... many odd things i'm inclined on same level sacrificing chicken during spring/summer/autumn/winter solstice, , burying carcass @ base of willow tree while chanting sort of meaningful phrase on , on again. guess couldn't hurt either. skip chicken part though, if me.
