What to Do When My MBP FREEZES during programs?

hello everyone. must first time have ever asked question , have been using mac since 2006. when son plays minecraft on laptop freeze up.

can besides powering down? have tried key shortcuts bring me finder nothing happens.

help....or going have keep kid laptop please don't make me do...he can annoying...but lovable.
 

is hot, daughter plays minecraft on old 2011 15" mbp no issue, equally it`s on passive aluminium stand on desk, , fans set spool sooner , more aggressively. minecraft system hot, not boiling point.

if mac freezing instantly @ moderate temperatures, might want @ version of java , stability of internet connection. have observed system can stall time when in setup/loading phase of game. far aware game has no issue once , running.
