MacBook air 13 + iPad Air or retina MacBook Pro 13

i have option choose " got vet school" computer mother. can either choose base 13 mba + maybe ipad air (would spend own money upgrade air 2 exchange once it) or can base retina macbook pro 13.

think i'm leaning towards mbp because think want surface 3 (not pro) bring class annotate on pdf , powerpoint slides not primary computer base atom + 2gb ram when + pen, no keyboard, in theory leave "heavy" macbook pro @ home.

it's going used basics, plus light video editing. prefer screen of mbp. sold mba 2013 offset cost bit. while love mba love retina screens.
