Yosemite upgrade need reinstall 3rd party apps?

being cautious, cloned hard drive carbon copy. after running install couldn't several of 3rd party apps work. outright wouldn't open , demanded reinstall licences. normal? if won't upgrading main hard drive anytime soon.
 

this has nothing yosemite. because of apps licensed 1 hardware device only, , when cloned other drive apps saw , required reregister on new hardware.

if leave working apps working on original drive , install yosemite on top upgrade, should not need app registration.
