Macbook Pro 15" A1226 EMC: 2136 - Hard Drive Spins, but no start up chime.

i'm home sick flu thought use time start work on macbook bought ebay. seller described common problem macbook think on when lid closed , when lid opened, shut off. thought sounded pram battery problem fix. while waiting new pram battery, installed own hard drive old windows laptop used disk utility format , installed yosemite successfully. bought new battery, power adapter , upgraded ram 4gb.

before new pram battery came ran issue once computer shut off, has difficulty starting again. when depress power button, can hear hard drive spinning, there no further boot activity. no start chime , nothing on screen. hard drive spinning. i've tried smc reset , trick bypass smc plugging in magsafe whilst holding power button. no luck.

feel if computer boot , reset pram new pram battery, there chance well, without proper boot start chime, i'm dead in water. i'd computer running , advice or recommendations community has appreciated.
 

can't i'm sure on this, i'm pretty sure changing ram configuration of system should force pram wipe automagically. try pulling ram out, booting system, putting 1 chip in, starting again, filling banks once more.

sounds can still system boot "sometimes", not while attempting traditional pram reset. in case, clear pram via terminal:

sudo nvram boot-args="-p -r"
