Mavericks and iphoto 9.2.1

greetings!

upgraded girlfriends macbook pro. 2011 macbook pro 15 inch i7. still running osx 10.7.5 lion , cranky. got dog update friends laptop downloaded mavericks , didn't want yosemite.

updated , running great! however, photo student , iphoto icon has cross through , says version isn't compatible version of osx. im running iphoto version 9.2.1. tried downloading 9.4.2 update , wouldn't execute. says program needs updated through apple store.. there no update! now?
