Macbook Pro (i5,8GBRAM,300GB HDD) - bad performance

hi, though have deleted partition , re-installed os x lion (the original os), still have problem performance macbook pro.
macbook pro intel core i5 , there 8gb ram, , 300gb hdd.
have repaired permissions.
slow open software, web browser, etc...but ok surf @ web, consider internet band ok.
if check @ monitor, entire memory not used, cpu usage not high,...and hdd not full, there 20gb used (there 300gb).
know how improve performance? or, @ least, if there software possible tune performance?
