Strange cursor issue

hi all,

i'm having odd cursor issue on rmbp. whenever using external display text cursor visual position seems offset it's pointing. isn't issue normal pointer cursor, on text, , doesn't happen on laptop's built in display, external 1 connected. i've tried capture issue in attached screen cap, cursor isn't captured.

captured holding down (to select text). cursor rendered below 't' of top "portabits", full line above , 3 characters right of mouse selecting text.

can imagine not useful! i've looked around having same issue can't find anyone, unfortunately. ideas?

edit: after posting this, text cursor no longer appears, replaced instead regular pointer, luckily in correct position. no means ideal, better before. still strange...
