11" 2011 Air -> rMB, office/programming performance

today first full day using rmb (yesterday lot of setting things up). won't comment on keyboard/ports/touchpad/screen/size, that's covered, , picked rmb because of (and/or in spite of) factors.

figured i'd chip in on performance. tough research since benchmarks don't tell full story. use cases: office work (web, writing, spreadsheets, presentations) , programming(*). 0% photo/video editing. of number crunching work done in cloud.

1.1ghz rmp lot faster 11" 2011 air (no upgrades, base model). same action on both @ same time, , rmp consistently win, though varying amounts (not scientific, know). attribute faster io. specific programs: intellij, textwrangler, safari, terminal. didn't office stuff today, opened few pages/numbers/keynote files, seemed work fine/fast.

can't comment on other worry: 4 years out rmb did air? i'll update thread ;-)

(*) "non-compiled" programming (php), it's fancy text editing. maybe compiling code bog down cpu?
