Folder copies itself when moved

i went digging around in external hard drive other day fish out old animation project files in order update portfolio.

animation folder (from 5-6 years ago), on desktop, copies whenever try move it. causing this?

have permissions? i've set folder 'read , write' , checked box "apply enclosed items", problem not solved. there many subdirectories in folder well.. 'apply enclosed items' option supposed work on every folder , file inside 1 chosen, because doesn't seem case.
