New rMBP vs. MacBook (Lap Use)

i have 2013 mba , works pretty me. lot of programming , enjoy watching 1080p youtube videos when come across them, , mba has never given issues both of those.
i'm interested in upgrading, screen. options macbook , new 13" rmbp. however, have important requirement.

vast majority of laptop use spent laptop on lap, upwards of 8 hours straight. mba perfect this: comfortable, small, extremely light, , little heat emission. hardly notice it's there.

don't care new macbook's flashy features , form, however, absolutely need that's comfortable use on lap extended periods, means not heat (regardless of clothes i'm wearing) , not weight. rmbp 0.5 lbs heavier, i'm not terribly concerned weight, heat , dimensions.

know new rmbp released, i'm wondering if second recent model tell me if there's reason why should prefer lighter model extended lap use, or if mbp fine.

the late-2013/mid-2014 rmbps same generation, i'll post experience.

i've late-2013 13" rmbp , works fine on lap (although think it's not wide enough). retina screen nice addition too.

Battery Cycles

okay, know how battery cycles , work. want know is: how many cycles battery has how old battery is how many mah macbook shipped with how many mah have now reading thread on different site macbook batteries , commenting battery info. of them commenting saying reached 120 cycles per year. 1 guy said mac 3 years old on 250 cycles (avg. 83 year). think person had 400 after 2 years. in 'system information' says age of macbook 3 months old (when arrived said 1 months old, i've had 2 months) , have 98 cycles, using many cycles? i'm asking because realised apple batteries more or less useless @ holding charge after 1000 cycles , if i'm averaging 100 every 2 months gives me 1.7 years until macbook more or less desktop... to me seems poor previous windows laptops owned lasted long , expect lot more machine on £1k. (i have been told batteries in newer macbooks glued in place , replacing battery hard job , cost lots of money, mistake...

SSD Performing Poorly
