Should I help my 13 year old buy his own macbook?

hello, i'm new here , parent of 2 11 , 13 year old boys, 2.5 years ago bought own laptops play minecraft , other pc games (the specs quite then), bought these own money got doing chores , christmas presents. laptops work fine games starting show age in overall preforance. new apple products , never liked them begin with.

question, awhile ago told (more mature average) 13 year old son buy him ultrabook when starts grade 8 next year, because using 3rd gen ipad keyboard on school, ipad starting show age (he bought grade 4). birthday few weeks ago , has been saving money allowance awhile, , after of has cad850$ , got own bank account. today asked if him pay rest of 13inch macbook air, because told him buy him small , thin laptop battery school (his current laptop extremely heavy, thick , has 3hrs of battery)

stuck because worried won't take care of it, or stolen @ school, own money , did agree buy laptop him in coming months.

none of on here can decide right , son, think that, long understands not toy, , costing lot of money, there no reason why shouldn't have one.

mac laptops have longer life expectancy equivalent pc model, apple ensuring compatibility date versions of operating system (osx) number of years, may not work out being more expensive in long run. depends on not getting broken or stolen tho, of course!

go it. current macbook airs surprisingly powerful , should him long time. go refurbished model last year , save few hundred dollars, apple store online.
