Flight Simulators for iOS

i wanted discuss big 3 flight sims ios. first up, personal perspective - i'm professional family man 2 young kids i'm not hard core flight sims. enjoy odd 15 minutes here , there time allows can't justify time , expense in full on pc flight sim. therefore, appreciate quality available on ipad.

big 3 infinite flight, aerofly 2 , x-plane 10 , want provide thoughts on each separately , comparison. have included video overview of each. quite in depth haven't covered everything, more of pertinent points each app perspective.

infinite flight

i'll front x-plane 10 has lot of potential , lot of things indeed. i'm looking @ purely flight sim perspective discounting of 'game' elements of 1 such dog fighting , bombing missions.

first up, overall app looks good. planes good, have great interiors aerofly 2 , functional, not dials work can work controls throttle , gear when in cockpit view.

on interface, main flight controls down either side again, auto pilot controls top presenting same issues aerofly 2 has.

scenery not aerofly 2's standard surpasses infinite flight , airports modelled , come in land. again runs buttery smooth , way better infinite flight. night lighting though me best of bunch, runways great come in land , towns , airports lit @ night fly overhead others haven't attempted.

biggest draw x-plane 10 though weather, in addition wind have cloud, rain , lightning. can configure 2 levels of clouds thickness , works considering mobile device. rain effect surprisingly immersive, perhaps because doesn't feature in other apps. further little effects such tyre smoke, exhaust fumes etc. nice little additions.

biggest let down x-plane 10 though lack of navigation system such; there no maps or aids guide around , have no way of finding other airports in region apart aimlessly flying around taking off , flying same place - can't select different starting locations. given have used basic entry level slow plane in sim though, can't confirm sure how many additional airports per region there haven't had time explore them have found 1 airport in setac region far example.

1 issue x-plane 10, free single, basic aircraft. mitigated though excellent try before buy option can access of purchasable aircraft 1 minute demo or unlock 24 hours if share on facebook. @ least can decent @ aircraft before purchasing. have option of helicopter unique in company. love see more airliners added roster - once navigation , other airports added of course.

regions , there 5 in total quite diverse , choice. see these fleshed out bit more multiple airports , suspect 1 of reasons why there no navigation system these may go hand in hand in future update. truth told, until @ least navigation system, find hard recommend sim although given free worth checking out , think potential big.

x-plane 10's replay feature set virtually identical aerofly views available , although hud available - isn't comprehensive infinite flight covers basics.

** looks there upcoming update x-plane 10 mobile introduce navigation system.

 

i have been playing infinite flight more 2 years. remember when take off using reversers patched. have u played multiplayer?
