Connecting my external HD ruins wifi?? Mavericks

hi,
posted wifi problems , found answer. external hard! couldn't believe it. browsing forum , discovered , no way.
turns out, problem. 4tb seagate slim fast portable. time machine backup , of important data.
unplug , mbp connects wifi perfectly, plug in, , slows...then disconnects.
wtf can fix this? cannot believe real.
help!
 

is hard drive usb 3? there known interference issue usb 3 messing wi-fi , bluetooth, , isn't limited macs.
