OWC External Hard Drive running hot

i read on , on heat on spinning drives enemy , causes quicker failures. assume outer case dispersing heat should - aka not hot inside well. cuz outside case hot touch. normal? yours heat much? cause drive failure? have owc mercury elite pro 5tb , 3tb - both heat same.

, have crashplan backing these drives run 24/7 , getting hot. if 5 years a-ok won't worry. drives new , experience owc drives.
 

the heat of case in response heat of drive. sort if drive inside quite important question. if have cheep green drive runs @ 5200rpm, yes have issue. if have high speed 7200 or 10,000rpm drive, normal. check out operating specs drive have installed.
