What happened to the apps?

i have ipod nano 6th gen, , have had few years. however, morning, voice memos app disappeared off homescreen. turned on using settings, still won't appear on home screen. tl;dr: voice memos , ebooks disappeared. can't them back. please help!
 

from experience, voice memos 'app' appears when headphones mic plugged in. have tried resetting ipod? (hold down lock , volume buttons)
