Automator — apply workflow to multiple folders?

i have several years of pdf archives of weekly publication. each page of each publication, there single pdf ... if 44-page publication week, there 44 single-page pdfs. want combine pdfs create single multi-page pdf per edition.

not need actual process — the first item listed in macworld article nicely — since i'm tackling several years of archives, in tweaking automator workflow don't have run 52 times each year of archives.

archives set this, 52 folders inside each year:

weekly archives
  • 2010
  • 2011
  • 2012
  • 2013
  • 2014

fine have of combined pdfs being placed in folder on desktop. easy enough me subsequently rename them via automator , sort them folders year.

tried dragging "weekly archives" folder onto automator application described in macworld article, automator icon in menu bar spinning mad ... suspect computer trying combine several thousand single-page pdfs single several-thousand-page long pdf.

advice on how alter workflow processes each weekly folder single pdf in 1 batch?
