Charging iOS devices with Macbook charger

although there's no usb-c lightning cable available, wondering if still can charge ios devices using macbook charger => usb-c usb female adapter => lightning cable => iphone/ipad.

in other words, included charger support 5v or 12v output required iphone or ipad? way wouldn't need power plug when travelling.

the apple specs list dual voltage. since has 5.2v output 14.5v, shocked if won't safely charge iphone or ipad appropriate adapters , cords, don't know who's done proceed @ own risk. ;)
