App Store Sees Record Performance in Q2 2015 With 29% Increase in Revenue Year Over Year

during today's q2 2015 earnings call, apple ceo tim cook announced app store saw best quarter ever, 29 percent growth year on year. entire services category, includes itunes store, app store, mac app store, ibooks store, applecare, applepay, licensing, , other services reached record quarterly revenue of $5 billion, 9 percent year on year, growth largely coming app store.

according apple cfo luca maestri, app store remains "incredibly popular" customers around world, , in march quarter, saw 70 percent more revenue google play.

apple update on healthkit-based apps, part of apple's recent health , fitness initiative, aggregating of user's health , fitness data. according cook, healthkit has been highly successful, , there 1,000 healthkit-based apps in app store.

along healthkit, cook touched on apps apple watch. there 3,500 apple watch apps available download. cook said customer response apple watch "overwhelmingly positive" , apple "can't wait see more inspiring apps" apple watch creep closer towards 2015 worldwide developers conference.
