MBA Ram and SSD question

i'm planning on upgrading late 2011 mbp 13" mba. use machine web surfing, email, youtube, , photoshop use possibility of putting more of creative suite on later. i'm in college budget factor.

should go 4 or 8 gb on ram?

128 ssd vs. 256? hard drive upgrade $200, these days can external 3t less. i'm inclined feel should save money on ssd other upgrades.

thoughts on applecare? had on pro , hardly used it.
 

be aware *cannot* upgrade ram @ in mba, , while can upgrade ssd, bit of pain.

so, pretty walk out of store (or shipped you) "stuck with" life of laptop.

how long plan on using it? if plan on keeping longer 2 years, go ram upgrade...there easy ways more external storage, ssd upgrade optional (out of curiousity, how of hd using right now?).

re: applecare...when "hardly ever use it" mean? if question of price, @ b&h photo cheapest price on applecare.
