Worth buying?

i have macbook pro (13-inch, mid 2009) model following specs:

2.26 ghz intel core 2 duo
8 gb 1067 mhz ddr3
nvidia geforce 9400m 256 mb
samsung 500gb ssd (upgraded in 2013)

use macbook pro hooked 23" dell monitor lot, i've considered buying imac need portability. when using macbook pro stutters bit when trying play 480p video youtube, or when using programs adobe illustrator. it's minimal can bit annoying. imagine it's struggling bit task of using monitor.

game on time time, used run starcraft 2 @ low settings , fans kick in heavy ran okay (frame rate got bad in big battles).

question whether worth upgrading recent macbook pro model? there bonus of having retina screen, find significant performance upgrade money?

the improvements in cpu architecture alone (which significant c2d current haswell , broadwell tech) make upgrade worthwhile. , integrated gpus on base models faster discrete graphics have.
