Videos will not play

hi,
wonder if can help? have quicktime, peri, vlc player, divx , none of them play mp4's, avi's or video related. flash player date , plays youtube videos no problem. using yosemite if that's help? files start open, says converting , comes can't open.

i'm bit of novice appreciated. it's such pain!!
