2014 Mac Mini suggestion

i'm looking purchase 2 mac mini's (a/b) run os x server on , install them in sonnet rack mount mini 1u enclosure.

running following services:
dhcp/dns - both
open directory - both
file sharing - both
time machine - b
profile manager - a
calendar - a
caching - b
netinstall - b

usage, there dozen apple devices (mac , iphone/ipad/appletv) accessing of services. there dozen or 2 more devices accessing dhcp/dns (internet of things). while usage minimal, don't see needing more i5 processor run these tasks. think 4gb enough, having 8gb safe in case future upgrades os , server app require more.

comes down storage options. rather not fusion , have deal breaking if 1 drive fails. comes down 5400rpm 1tb hdd or 256gb flash drive. don't think options available on 1.4ghz, 2.6ghz, 8gb memory baseline.

also, benefit add thunderbolt gigabit adapter , have second port available?

or found 2012 model server $50 cheaper, 4gb ram standard 2x1tb 5400rpm drives.

are trying high availability buying two? think load, 1 fine (either 2012 or 14). spend money on more ram. second ethernet port useful if running nas or lots of vm's on , wanted separate traffic in vlans.
