Help me stream music to my outside patio surround sound

hi guys, i'm trying wrap head around how apple tv, apple airports, , airplay work, kind of lot take in, feel i'm way behind on times here!

after last pc died again decided go out apple. have iphone, ipad, ipod, , imac now. might attempt integrate everything!

anyway, goal able use ipad or iphone control music on patio. right in garage have samsung flat screen samsung surround sound has dish network box on it. turn on xm channel want , surround sound plays through patio , or garage speakers. it's pain because if want change volume have , walk garage turn or down. , i'm locked xm channel unless walk garage , turn channel.

have wifi extender , have awesome wifi signal through garage , on patio. buddy gave me apple airport express no longer uses. curious if use accomplish here. need apple tv box this? have no idea options are, nor have clue of how go making happen. know there has got better set i'm doing now. can please educate me?
 

you can plug express in near surround, run audio cable system , add express wifi network. can selected airplay point ipad, iphone or mac. find music want on of , hit play - volume selection , music palm of hand. simple.
