Apple loves thin products. Why are they fine with massive bezels though?

i'm referring particularly imac here, pretty case of apples products. love thinness. same company has thinness phone, tablet, etc. why ok big bezels. imac has massive bezels , ginormous chin. iphone has big bezels compared competition. , it's same in other product categories. why ok this? seems strange me.
 

i can think when squash something, happens? squeezes out sides. components have go somewhere.

on ipad, don't mind because need somewhere hold. on imac, rather thick wide or tall. add 4 inches (or more) of thickness , wouldn't matter 1 bit.
