Elgato Dock and Seagate Drive

hi have elgato dock connected mba via thunderbolt. seagate external hard drive (usb 3) connected elgato dock. dock powered on.

thing want check white light not seagate drive illuminated.... correct, i.e. function of dock being powered?

in preferences set power down drives when not in use.
