i submit app apple in couple of weeks , have heard apple can reject apps if (upon first installation) starts downloading huge amounts of data. know there not exact number talking more couple of g of data here? or 500mb enough rejected?
let me explain little app does. since have huge collection of antiques (around 500) pictures (usually 3 per item) didn't want include them in app blow app installation size around 500mb. , hard maintain them. decided have "skeleton" of app , when user runs it, notified can update data (aka download content , images). can download 500mb of data @ once.
non-apple preferred way of doing that? suggestion help.
one question why download data @ once? either images massive or users getting many times more can review @ 1 time. there number of ways tackle downloading .5gb on phone @ once doesn't seem user experience if apple allowed it.
based on description , collections view has smaller images once tapped show larger image. user clicks on small thumbnail , retrieves larger image. no wouldn't available off-line viewing consider whether critical.
