i'm thinking of getting squaretrade new macbook accidental insurance. considering eat or drink next it, , take park, work, , coffee shops might protection spills. unfortunately, applecare doesn't offer protection against accidental damage (which #1 concern) macbook otherwise have purchased warranty sure. else getting squaretrade or has gotten macbook?
see 1.2/512 version falls in $1500-$1999 range, plan $210 $75 deductible per incident 2 years. have no deductible $280 plan 2 years. 2 years sweet spot me because upgrade in 2017, there should either port, 14" screen or @ least faster processor better battery life if not other features.
i'm hoping never have submit claim, if claim 1 or 0 claims seems more favorable $75 deductible because save $70 (for 0 claims, paying $210 instead of $280) , @ lose $5 (for 1 claim, paying $285 instead of $280). obviously, lose additional $75 every additional claim after 1, seems chances of more 1 claim unlikely in 2 year period based on past history , care apple computers. on top of that, have heard insure cost of laptop , @ point need purchase new insurance anyways.
please post experience, suggestions, , insight regarding squaretrade insurance new macbook , whether or not worth when considering potential out-of-pocket costs repair of new 1.2/512 macbook. if there's discount, promotion, or better price insurance appreciated. thanks!
each claim deminishes value of policy. when claims equal insurance limit policy ends. if 2 or 3 years have not passed.
first year 100% repair coverage except accidental damage.
2 year policy paying year 1 accidental damage , year 2 product failure , accidental damage.
3 year applecare policy cost around $175....and covers repairs in 3 year period except accidental damage.
worth avenue has policies paid yearly cover accidental damage , theft. breakdowns not covered. linky
