The watch impressions

just went local apple store here in twin cities suburbs.

store busy, not overwhelmingly so.

went @ rmb, there absolutely nobody looking @ those. played bit, wandered on watch table.

first i'll give impressions of actual watch, store setup , new retail model.

watch itself:

watch, unsurprisingly, nicer in person expected. wasn't thick looked online, , footprint little smaller, though think me @ 5'5" tall, i'd still want 38 mm version.

however, while watch nicer in person expected, may misleading - found sport cheap whether in space gray or silver, , found edition average , no classier/fancier stainless models, maybe less so, find gold tacky; there no distinction between yellow gold , rose gold well.

watches looked best imo regular line, stainless models, etc. didn't care link bracelet, found myself instantly attracted stainless watch milanese loop. think regular line sweet spot. unfortunately, since know rev. 1 product, know next year half thick twice battery life, hard me sink $1k on watch. sport better option in meantime, if can live look. think watch fantastic product in 3-4 years, , i'm sure i'll cave in , buy 1 then.

new retail model:

angela @ helm, noticed things in store bit different now.

surprised how space in store more or less wasted watch try ons - in fact didn't see 15" rmbp anymore, not looked @ every table must've been shoved in corner somewhere.

had 1 or 2 (one think) glass display tables at, 3-4 try on tables, , few tables demo unit stations play little bit. 2/3 of major apple product space (non accessories) watch, of not being utilized @ all.

there 1 guy @ display table answer questions, , directing people buy online. didn't ask try 1 on, seemed ridiculous me need make appointment try on when there plenty of employees , try on stations not being utilized. did hear 1 guy ask know features of watch , directed website, asinine since could've accommodated try on him on spot, or @ least told him of features. @ 1 point guy @ watch table (besides apple employee), , never asked if had questions or anything. same thing happened @ rmb table. being left alone, kind of wondered if part of "just direct them website if have questions, don't ask if have questions since you'll direct them website anyway" mentality.

in general find little absurd have people come store, require appointments try-ons when there plenty of availability walk-in. further still find absurd direct people online purchase things. maybe change when have products in stock, angela's email doesn't seem it, seems trying make paradigm shift in way apple sells products. maybe why there hardly looking @ either rmb or watch.

maybe angela isn't fit, because she's used high end fashion , boutique stores affluent never bother schlepping society in line product, that's part of apple is, scalpers or not. thing think apple needs overhaul of retail perspective billion dollar remodel of stores rid of same outdated they've had 15 years. time give stores full overhaul black/steel/glass modern industrial feel imo.

i agree on messed in store system. it's odd have make appointment online first, , can't buy during time. knew of of course because read mr, if mom walked store wanting try watch on , told had make appointment, she'd forget it.

not sure agree on full redesign of store black/steel , glass. apple's stores feel friendly now. shouldn't feel cold , unwelcoming.
