Choosing YouTube quality over Chromecast and other issues

as title says, know google "auto" selects best quality based on speed, there work around? don't want watch 240p, wait load.

also, after bought chromecast discovered tv has option stream youtube (no dongle required, tv name under chromecast name) made me pretty angry @ myself.

there other "extra" advantages chromecast? can't use streaming services hbo go , hulu because not in us. tried "cast" browser tab worked screen on tv bit zoomed in. tried play movie file in chrome , "cast" it, @ first worked in action sequence dropped frames , became slow motion.
