so running on maverick on primary macbook pro drive , put yosemite on external hard drive. later deleted yosemite external hard drive reformatting it. when boot macbook pro does't give me original grey apple boot up. anytime turn on macbook black screen pops first grey background apple logo pops up. anytime hold down "option" key during boot it'll go black screen hard drive , recovery startup , has black background. when click select network has yosemite ui , not mavericks. how fix this? don't yosemite @ all.   that's result of firmware update part of yosemite install. afaik, shouldn't affect booting , using mavericks, if want use well. however, boot sequence affected, include of screens supplied boot rom, such network selection window. - if booting mavericks partition, boot graphics affected. others may offer ideas here, or contact applecare, , ask new boot screens

picked gigabyte gtx 970g1 yesterday. after figuring out needed latest web drivers, (and needed shut off 970 in order able boot far enough install them old gt120), got working. boots os x fine. in bootcamp (win 8.1), card works 10-20 minutes in 3d games (elite dangerous, star citizen). video shuts off , mac reboots. tested furmark , lasts 2 minutes on stress test until crash , reboot. in case needed shut down mac start again card continue working. don't use internal mac psu power ports on card - use external psu. @ first running 600 watt corsair card. switched 700 watt thermaltake had lying around (i know not best psus powering ports on card way under limit). also, had been running radeon 7970 corsair way in mac on year no stability issues. updated latest firmware on card, didn't help. watched temperature , fan speed while benchmarks running, card never got unusually extreme state, maybe maxing @ 68 c in furmark. consider retu

hey everyone, received u2515h dell. far i'm loving it. have mid-2012 rmbp, figured best going able far ppi goes. monitor replaces oldie goodie - benq g2400wd (16:10 24 -inch 1920x1200 resolution). have display connected using included dell mdp dp cable. love fact can run parallels in 1280x1440 window , still have half of display available whatever need. i'll share more opinions , pictures when have time play around it. now, did notice 2 things when looking @ graphics/display section under system information. refresh rate shows 59 hz instead of 60. also, os x detecting television, though i'm connecting via mdp out dp in on monitor. can't tell if impacting quality of display - maybe is, maybe isn't. i'll more testing , see. wondering if else has seen these 2 display abnormalities?   attached files: scre

i thinking of getting external ssd use boot disk , connecting via thunderbolt. presently have 72rpm hdd , it's showing it's age, it's 1tb , external ssd, move purely speed, on top of have external 1tb hdd interface via tryst ol' usb2 , use timemachine back-up. question whether cut chord external usb 2 hdd , use internal hdd timemachine instead when running ssd? either or keep external hdd timemachine back-up , use raid configuration if happen pickup left off, not sure performance hit, or if (i.e. raid external thunderbolt ssd internal imac hdd)? there option , thunderbolt connected enclosure have 2 bays , fit in affordable hdd 1 of these suggestions. benefit being able forfeit 1 of mains plugs (1tb never going bus driven!) , use thunderbolt enclosure. suppose main concerns how set raid different storage systems , if work, performance hit, i'm not sure suffers when connecting ssd hdd , having real time backup system, if

reeder (rss) mac , calendar, macbook pro core i7 running yosemite. short of full reinstall of os w/o restoring time machine, i've tried everything. when open apps, open full screen except safari own personal preference yet when open calendar or reeder, open in windowed mode despite having them full screen when closed applications. recreate issue, open calendar, go full screen, close application. restart calendar , it's window mode. i've reinstalled entire os , restored time machine, disk permissions , reinstalled reeder scratch. issues persist. running 10.10.2 w/o visual customizations / hacks. help?   i thought default apps not open fullscreen until choose option, since 'take over' screen. so, example, calendar, when reopen after fullscreen, reverts it's usual size (and not fullscreen)...   Forums
