hey all, have 2008 24" 2.8ghz imac 120gb intel 320 ssd , 6gb ram installed myself. performed clean install of yosemite 10.10.0, , 10.10.1 update, there no issues, , machine ran fine. however, when attempted update mac 10.10.2, ran serious problem. many yosemite users, difficult download update mac app store update tab when first released. download occurring @ slow rate taking on 2 hours . wasn't using imac else during time. @ point during process family member accidentally unplugged router. went mac check on it, , although update halfway downloaded according app store, computer automatically restarted apply update before stop it. saw update progress bar , update seemed install without problems. however, when mac went reboot, greeted prohibitory symbol. tried restarting several times without success. tried boot safe mode , single user mode, , neither worked. reset smc , zapped pram, didn't help. booted recovery partition on drive ,

i needed computer right now, urgently. not old thinkpad crapped out on me completely. screen started flickering , giving me headache. happy rid of thinkpad brand, became cheap horrendous customer service. not used be. , laptop broke after less 2 years. thing missing trackpoint. used touchpad again time. settled down on base model. , instead of paying ram upgrade, im putting $100 towards new laptop 3 years now.   i bought mbp when dell started showing age (it wasn't crap, old) , win8 got out @ same time. never looked back. regret not doing sooner. now, wouldn't use mba base model primary computer, depends entirely of usage. edit : depends on whether got 11" or 13" oh, , trackpad ? 1 on macbook make forget trackpoint (i have solid hatred trackpads , never use on windows laptop, use trackpoint or mouse. love trackpad on macbook).

i have mid-2012 mbp, 4gb ram , 500gb hdd. i've upgraded yosemite when first came out , since machine has been struggling. didn't around post issue earlier, don't remember noticing on mavericks. i'm on 10.10.2 after browsing while on safari, few different sites, around 4-5 tabs open, safari uses available ram in system. start noticing sluggishness after couple of hours, ram usage accumulates. ram usage causes whole system become slow, spinning color wheel whenever open new tab, change song on itunes, etc. when i'm typing keyboard becomes unresponsive few seconds, color wheel comes , keyboard won't accept inputs, enter characters typed 10 seconds late. ram indicator stays green whole time, , know says if it's green it's fine, yosemite handle ram management, seriously, not right. not normal machine can come halt using safari. restarting safari empties ram using , system speeds again, until restart can still feel small la
